How To Tell If You Have Oily Skin

girl_washing_faceWhat is Oily Skin?

When your oil glands produce extra oil, it shows up on the top of your skin—primarily in the T-zone area of your face (forehead, nose and chin); that’s where you have the highest concentration of oil glands.  You can control it, but you can’t change it – the level of oil your skin produces is genetic.

You know you have oily skin when:

  • Your pores are clogged
  • Your skin is usually the oiliest in the T-zone area, which is across the forehead, down the nose and chin.
  • Your face looks shiny and feels greasy
  • Your makeup wears off within a few hours of application
  • You are prone to pimples, blackheads and whiteheads

Special Care for Oily Skin:

  • Cleanse the skin at least twice a day.  Never go to bed without washing your face, even if you have no makeup on.
  • Moisturizing is still necessary on a daily basis. If your face feels tight after washing, use a light moisturizer.  Oily skin tends to be dehydrated skin, since moisturizers are not used as often.  Drink lots of water to keep skin well hydrated from the inside out.

Oily Skincare Regimen:

  • Wash the face and neck with BelleDerm Salicylic Facial Wash, avoiding the immediate eye area.  Let dry completely.  Repeat this morning and night.
  • Once a week, use the BelleDerm Exfoliating Crystal Scrub.  Using your fingertips, gently rub the skin up from the neck and out to the hairline.  For oilier skin, this step can be performed twice a week.
  • Follow with BelleDerm Gentle Toner, applied with a cotton ball all over the face and neck.
  • For a once a week treatment, use the BelleDerm Salicylic Cellular Treatment.  Apply the treatment to a dry face and neck, avoiding the immediate eye area.  For oilier skin, this step can be performed twice a week.
  • Witht the ring or pinky finger, apply a small amount of BelleDerm Intensive Eye Crème all around the eye and eyelid.  Due to the texture of this product, this may be preferred as a nightly treatment.
  • To moisturize, BelleDerm Extra Gentle Hydration Lotion may be used day and night , if this is not enough moisture, BelleDerm Vitamin Infusion Lotion can also be used as a moisturizer.
  • Always use a sunscreen with at least an SPF 15
  • Medical microdermabrasions are recommended at 1 to 2 week intervals.
